My research is mainly focused on computational fluid dynamics and ship hydrodynamics. My methodological work focuses on numerical methods for high-Reynolds-number turbulent free-surface flows: RANS, LES, DES and hybrid RANS/LES and RANS/BEM approaches, immersed boundary methods, and high-performance computing with finite-difference and finite-volume schemes. You also do experimental work in the towing tank alongside the numerical work. My current applications cover hull-propeller-rudder interaction for surface ships and submarines, manoeuvrability and seakeeping, LES of propellers and hydrokinetic turbines, high-speed planing hulls, multi-fidelity optimization, and hydro-acoustics.
