Renato Seracchioli is Full Professor of Obstetrics and
Gynecology at the University of Bologna. He graduated in Medicine
and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of
Bologna.
Originally he was involved in assisted reproduction,
through several internships at major European centers and he was
involved in the organization of the Center for Assisted
Reproduction of the Policlinico S. Orsola.
Since 1991 his main field of interest was gynecological
endoscopy (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) and he performed more than
4500 operations, introducing at the Policlinico S. Orsola new
techniques of minimally invasive surgery in the field of
endometriosis and oncology.
He is Director of U.O. Gynecology and Reproductive Pathophysiology
of the Policlinico S. Orsola-Malpighi of Bologna from November the
1st 2014.
He is author of over 250 publications, including more than 135
scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals surveyed by
MEDLINE (IF total of more than 250).
Since 1997 he taught "Endoscopic surgical techniques" and
"Laparoscopic surgical therapy" at the postgraduate school of
Gynecology and Obstetrics of Bologna.
since 2000 Prof. R. Seracchioli organized many workshops about
gynecological laparoscopy and hysteroscopic surgical techniques at
the Policlinico S. Orsola. Prof. R. Seracchioli is
member of the Editorial Boards of several journals including
“Journal of Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Disorders” and “Rivista
Italiana di Ostetricia e Ginecologia”. From 2001 to 2007 he joined
the Executive Council SEGI as Head of the External Relations
Commission. Since 2010 he is Member of the Faculty of the
International School of Surgical Anatomy. Since 2012 he is a Member
of the Scientific Committee of the AIE (Associazione Italiana
Endometriosi). In 2013 he was Member of the International Editorial
Board of Ibima Publishing, USA. in 2014 is Leads editor of the
special issue on Endometriosis: novel Models, Diagnosis, and
Treatment in BioMed Research International. In 2008 he won the
Charles Romanini Award with the article entitled "Long-Term
Postoperative Oral Contraceptive Therapy and Ovarian Endometrioma
Recurrence. A Randomized Controlled Trial" presented to Congress
AAGL Las Vegas.
