Dr. Raffaele Ventura is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna and a Research Associate at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSC) at the European University Institute. He also serves as Coordinator of GlobalStat, an integrated data portal providing analytical tools and datasets on social, political, economic, environmental, and sustainability indicators worldwide, and leads the Applied Data Science for Social Research Working Group at the European University Institute.
His research focuses on the interplay between human societies and environmental systems, particularly under conditions of resource scarcity and in contexts affected by extreme events and climate-related risks. He has conducted extensive research on transboundary water governance and resource management, with a particular regional emphasis on the enlarged Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa. His work combines quantitative methods and policy-oriented analysis to examine the environmental dimensions of security, development, and international cooperation.
