Pierluigi Di Chiaro

Pierluigi Di Chiaro is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the University of Bologna and conducts research at the Translational Research Laboratory of the AUSL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia. He holds a PhD in Experimental and Molecular Medicine from Humanitas University.

His research focuses on tumor heterogeneity and the interactions between cancer cells and their microenvironment. He integrates experimental and computational approaches, omics and spatial technologies, single-cell analysis methods, digital pathology, and artificial intelligence-based tools to reconstruct the cellular architecture and molecular interactions of tumor ecosystems. He has conducted research at Italian and international institutions, including the European Institute of Oncology and the University of Vienna, and has authored publications in international scientific journals.
