My main research interest is in the application of genomic techniques to marine fisheries conservation. I'm currently working on population and adaptation genomics applied to three of the most important commercial fish species in the Mediterranean, the red mullet (Mullus barbatus), the hake (Merluccius merluccius) and the blue fin tuna (Thunnus thynnus). The latter is studied from both modern and ancient (until 3000 BCE) whole genome sequences and has been granted by ERGA and EMBRC.
I'm also interested in forward-in-time simulations and their applications to genetic load studies.
