Patrizio Frosini received the PhD degree in Mathematics from the University of Florence in 1991. From the 16th of January 1993 to the 14th of September 2014 he has been an assistant professor in the Faculty of Engineering/School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Bologna. From the 15th September 2014 he is an associate professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna (MAT/03 - Geometry).

RESEARCH INTERESTS
He is mainly interested in the study of the topological and metric properties concerning topological spaces and manifolds endowed with real-valued functions. He has introduced the concept of size function, precursor of the concept of persistent homology. As for this line of research, he is also interested in the extension of the theory in the presence of the action of a subgroup G of the topological group of all self-homeomorphisms of the considered space, and in the study of the natural pseudodistance associated with G. He also studies the applications of the previous concepts to shape and image comparison.
