Dr. Patricia Benito got her degree in Chemistry at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and her European PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the same Universtity. From 2006 she moved to the Department of Industrial Chemistry “Toso Montanari” as an “Assegnista di Ricerca”. From 2015 to 2019 she was Assistant Professor (Ricercatore a tempo determinato tipe B) at the Department of Industrial Chemistry “Toso Montanari”. From 2019 she is Associate Professor of Industrial Chemistry.
She teaches Industrial Chemistry at the 3rd year Bachelor Degree in the Course “Chemistry and Technologies for the Environment and Materials” (Faenza), tecnologie Chimiche per la Produzione di Energia at the 3rd year Bachelor Degree in the Course "Industrial Chemistry", and Catalysis for Renewables at the 2nd year of the Master Degree in the Course "Low Carbon technologies).
Dr. Benito has expertise in Solid State Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science and Electrochemistry. Her research has focused on the development of catalytic materials and processes. She has worked in gas- and liquid- phase catalytic processes for the conversion of fossil and biomass feedstocks, including electrocatalytic processes. In particular, she has consolidated expertise in the preparation by electrodeposition and characterization (included advanced characterization) of structured catalysts based on open-cell metallic foams.
She is co-author of 77 papers in ISI journals (h index= 24) and she has participated to more than 100 national and international congresses.
