Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy “Augusto Righi” of the University of Bologna, he conducts research in the fields of physical oceanography, numerical ocean modelling, and climate variability. His research interests focus in particular on the development of integrated ocean observing and forecasting systems, data assimilation, Mediterranean Sea dynamics, and the role of ocean processes in understanding the climate system.
His scientific activity lies at the intersection of operational oceanography, ocean-atmosphere dynamics, and the analysis of environmental and climate change, with applications to marine forecasting, climate variability studies, and the assessment of marine environmental scenarios. He has carried out research at national and international institutions and is the author of scientific publications on oceanography, numerical modelling, marine forecasting, and the interaction between observations and numerical models.
