1. Automatic handling systems of animals. Robotic milking systems and their integration in the barn. Computerized monitoring systems of animals. 2. Environmental control of buildings: development of prediction simulation models of thermal-hygrometric and simulation software. Analysis of thermo-fluid dynamics. 3. Housing systems and innovative design criteria for cattle and pigs.

1. Simulation models of milking parlours with robotic arms. Functional optimization of automated milking stations. Management and processing of data from on-line sensors to develop forecasting models of pathological states and to evaluate the animal welfare. Software development; 2. Simulation models of the internal thermal behaviour of buildings mainly to reduce heat stress. Study of passive solutions (materials, openings, orientation) and active solutions (ventilation and cooling). Thermo-fluid dynamics analysis of ventilation mechanisms; 3. Technical design of livestock buildings by the method of analysis-performance requirements, with particular reference to production efficiency, cost containment and animal welfare. Systems for manure treatment and biogas production at farm level.
