P.A. has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bologna. He holds a PhD in Earth, Life and Environmental Sciences from the same university. He maintains collaborations with the Dept. of Cultural Heritage (Ravenna campus) and the Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology and Center for Genome Biology (Dept. Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences). His research focuses on the analysis of SNP-chip and whole-genome sequencing data to recover signals of neutral and adaptive evolution in human populations through modern and ancient DNA. In particular, he is interested in examining both environmental and biocultural influences on human metabolic (dis)adaptation. He is also applying population genomics methods to the variability of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders. He previously obtained a MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of Bologna, with a thesis on the genomic structure of the Italian population.
