2020 (March-April) – Cancelled due to COVID: Period abroad at the Laboratoire de Géosciences Océan, Plouzané, France – UMR Université de Brest to perform isotope Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf analysis on basaltic rocks from the Indian Ocean using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS) applying acid leaching protocols to remove low-temperature alteration phases for the Master Thesis project.

Participated to sampling campaigns and petrologic study of rocks from several exhumed metamorphic terranes and Precambrian shields, including Southwest Greenland, Lofoten (Norway), Gobi-Altai region (Mongolia), Northern Appalachians (Vermont), Northern Corsica (France).

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  • Micro-Raman spectroscopy analysis of fluid inclusions, including quantitative analysis of fluid composition, high-resolution Raman mapping, and fluid barometry.
  • Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) analysis for C isotope ratios measurement in CO2-CH4 extracted from fluid inclusions, in carbonate, and in graphite samples.
  • Tunable Infrared Laser Direct Absorption Spectroscopy (TILDAS) analysis for C and H isotope ratios measurement in CH4 extracted from fluid inclusions.
  • Gas Chromatography Isotope-Ratio Mass Spectrometry (GC-IRMS) analysis for C and/or H isotope ratios measurement in CH4, C2H6, C3H8, and H2 extracted from fluid inclusions, through the use of cryogenic separation techniques.
  • Micro Gas Chromatography for the analysis of H2, He, CH4, CO2, N2, and H2S extracted from fluid inclusions.
  • Development of mechanical fluid inclusion extraction protocols through milling and crushing techniques.
  • Assembly and maintenance of components for vacuum lines and gas transfer lines for isotope analysis.
  • Cathodoluminescence analysis (CL).
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis.
  • Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis.
  • Sample preparation through Focused Ion Beam (FIB) for the study of unopened fluid inclusions
  • Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis.
