Nicolò Maltoni

Nicolò Maltoni is a Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate at the Department of Architecture of the University of Bologna, where he conducts research on new perspectives in geo-cognitive cartography applied to River Landscape Atlases. Holding a degree in architecture and specializing in visual arts and geography, his methodology combines the scientific analysis of the contemporary landscape with multimedia experimentation that integrates languages such as cartography, photography, graphics, and drawing. Within the debate on overcoming traditional objectifying cartography, Maltoni explores geographical-narrative methodologies focused on relational orientation and co-creation. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Laboratorio del cammino, an inter-university network through which he investigates walking as a practice of territorial reading and design, and he regularly collaborates with the Laboratorio Carta at the University of Bologna in action-research activities.
