Nicola Chiarini is a PhD student in 'Romance Philology and Linguistics' (PhD Programme 'Literary and Philological Cultures') at the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies (FICLIT) of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna and in 'Langue française' at the Doctoral School 'Concepts et langages' of the Sorbonne Université. He studied Benvenuto da Imola's commentary on Lucan's Pharsalia and the reception of the Roman d'Alexandre (specifically the episode of the flower-maidens) in the works of Wagner and Proust. His current research project focuses on the thematic, linguistic and ecdotic study of the Roman des romans, an Old French text composed at the end of the 12th century, of which he proposes to provide a new and updated critical edition. He has presented his research at international conferences, he is part of the editorial staff of the series Filologicamente. Studi e testi romanzi (Bologna University Press) and he is a member of the 'Società Italiana di Filologia Romanza' (SIFR), of the 'Centro Studi su Benvenuto da Imola' (CeSBI) and of the Anglo-Norman Text Society (ANTS).
