Nicola Chiarini is a PhD student in 'Romance Philology and Linguistics' (PhD Programme 'Literary and Philological Cultures') at the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna and in 'Langue française' at the Doctoral School 'Concepts et Langages' (ED 433) of Sorbonne Université. He studied Benvenuto da Imola's commentary on Lucan's Pharsalia and the reception of the episode of the flower-maidens in the works of Wagner and Proust. His current research project focuses on the philological and literary study of the Roman des romans (ca. 1200), of which he proposes to provide a new critical edition. He has presented his research at international conferences, he is part of the editorial staff of the series Filologicamente. Studi e testi romanzi (Bologna University Press) and he is a member of the Società Italiana di Filologia Romanza (SIFR), of the Société de Linguistique Romane (SLR), of the Centro Studi su Benvenuto da Imola (CeSBI), of the Anglo-Norman Text Society (ANTS) and of the Association Internationale des Études sur le Moyen Français (AIEMF).
