His research interests lie in the religious and missionary history of the early modern period, with a particular focus on the Capuchin Order, the relations between the Roman Church and Eastern Christianity, and more broadly on the global expansion of Catholicism. His doctoral project, provisionally entitled
Capuchin Missionaries and the Ottoman Empire: Orientalism, Religious Praxis and the Construction of Confessional Identities (17th–18th c.), investigates the role of Capuchin friars in shaping and polarizing confessional identities in the early modern Mediterranean.
