PhD candidate in Materials Engineering at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the development of sustainable, bio-based and biodegradable polymeric materials obtained through the valorization of agro-industrial residues. Her scientific interests include the synthesis, processing and characterization of biopolymers and biocomposites for sustainable packaging and agricultural applications, with particular emphasis on the relationships between material structure, properties and biodegradability.
Education
She graduated with honors in Sustainable Chemistry from the University of Bologna in 2024, following a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology obtained at the University of Padova in 2022. During her studies, she completed an Erasmus mobility period at Imperial College London. Since 2025, she has been a PhD candidate in Materials Engineering at the University of Bologna, and since 2026 she has been enrolled in the Initial Teacher Education and Qualification Programme for the Italian secondary school teaching qualification (Class A-50: Natural, Chemical and Biological Sciences).
Academic Career
Since December 2024, she has been a Research Fellow at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), University of Bologna, within the framework of the National AGRITECH Research Centre and the European Horizon 2020 AGRILOOP project. Since November 2025, she has been pursuing her PhD at the same Department. Previously, she carried out research activities at ITQB NOVA University in Lisbon and at DICAM, University of Bologna, focusing on the valorization of biopolymers derived from agro-industrial residues.
Scientific Activity
Her research is devoted to the development and characterization of sustainable polymeric materials through advanced chemical, thermal, structural and mechanical characterization techniques. She is involved in national and European research projects focused on circular economy strategies and the valorization of agricultural waste. She has presented her research findings at national conferences on green chemistry and polymeric materials through both oral and poster presentations.
Scientific Expertise
She has expertise in the synthesis, processing and characterization of polymeric materials using advanced analytical techniques, including GPC, DSC, TGA, XRD, SEM, NMR and mechanical testing. Her competencies also include experimental data analysis, scientific writing and the presentation of research results at scientific conferences.
