My research interest was mainly focused on the role of mtDNA mutations as modifiers in tumor progression to look for their genetic causes in oncocytic tumors associated with cancer predisposing syndromes. My focus then moved on the study of angiogenesis adaptive mechanisms triggered by mitochondrial Complex I loss in ovarian cancer. From 2022 I focused on the generation of perfused organotypic models of High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer to test anti-metabolic compounds with the aim to dissect the molecular changes involved in treatment response in a context of personalized cancer care.
