Short Bio

Miguel Marcelino was born in 1981 and is a Portuguese architect. He graduated in 2005 from the Department of Architecture at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (DA/UAL), where he is currently a professor. He studied music between 1993 and 1998. He lived and worked in Switzerland and Barcelona before returning to Lisbon and establishing his own studio in 2008.

His first work to gain international attention was the Three Courtyards House, completed in 2012. The Fonte de Angeão School received the Vale da Gândara Prize. He was part of the official Portuguese representation at the 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture.

In 2024 he received the highest Portuguese distinction in the field of architecture, the Secil Prize. That same year, he became the first Portuguese architect to win the Barbara Cappochin International Prize, awarded for the Casal Saloio project.
