Michele was a PhD scholarship holder at the Scuola Superiore di Studi Storici where Luciano Canfora and Angelo Panebianco have been his director and mentor, Luigi Bonanate and Giuseppe Galasso supervisors. He is a Life Member of Clare Hall College, Cambridge, and he has held Visiting Fellowships at the University of London (LSE), University of Cambridge, Brown University, University of Queensland and the Bruno Kessler Foundation. He held teaching positions at the Université de Montréa, Univerzitet u Sarajevul and University of Milan. He works with the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia Treccani in Rome and as a member of the editorial board of the Rivista di Politica. An interpreter of Martin Wight’s thought within the complex of problems and authors in which it is contextualized, his latest book is a study on fortune and irony in politics published in The Palgrave Macmillan History of International Thought. He has worked with the WHO in Copenhagen and he serves in the Diplomatic Corps in Sarajevo. His photo exhibition on Central Asia is held at Palazzo Hercolani, Bologna. A Master Chung Kwang Soo student, he is a 5th Dan black belt by the Kukkiwon, Seoul.
