Short Bio

Michela Romano is a Ph.D. student at the University of Bologna in the program "Languages, Literatures, and Modern Cultures: Diversity and Inclusion" in the curriculum "World Literature" within the Slavic studies field. Currently, she is involved in a project focused on the study of contemporary Russian and Russophone dissident literatures, as well as the ideological, religious, and cultural conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Born in Parma (Italy), she completed her undergraduate studies in Foreign languages and literatures (English and Russian) at the University of Bologna. She obtained her Master’s degree in “Interdisciplinary research and studies on Eastern Europe” (MIREES, University of Bologna, 2019) and, in 2023, in “Modern, Comparative, and Postcolonial Literatures” (University of Bologna). Her academic experiences include conference participations, Erasmus programs, and research periods in Edinburgh, Kaunas (Lithuania), Riga (Latvia), Estonia (Tartu and Narva), and Russia (St. Petersburg), among others. Her research interests focus on 20th and contemporary Russian literature, dissident cultures, identity studies, and diasporas.
