Scientific research is mainly focused on these topics:

- study of poly(hydroxyalkanoate)s
- development of composite materials reinforced with cellulose
- synthesis of biobased plasticizing agents for biopolymers
- development of devices for biomedical sector (green-electronics)
- development of organic/inorganic hybrid materials by sol-gel process
- study and characterization of materials for gas separation
- development of functional materials with antimicrobial activity for packaging and biomedical applications

Scientific activities in projects funded by the European Commission (FP H2020) and by MUR:
- 2017: Participation as junior expert in BIOSPRI tender “Study on Support to R&I policy in the area of Bio-based Products and Services” for DG-RTD R&I - European Commission. Project funded in may 2017, ended in december 2018. The project has lead the European Commission to the publication of guidance documents for stakeholders and policy makers.
