Seminar on “Future trends in eMobility: from innovative solutions to the largest worldwide V2G project”

Monday 17th May 2021 09:30-10:30 - Online Teams

The webinar will give an overview of the product roadmap and innovative projects of Free2Move eSolutions, a joint venture between Stellantis (4th largest carmaker worldwide) and EPS (worldwide leader in microgrids).

From the iconic easyWallbox to DC fast charging solutions to be connected to city tramway, it will be possible to have a full picture of the variety of opportunities and solutions that, leveraging on power electronics knowledge, will be pivotal in the future eMobility era.

Then, a tech focus will be made on what is currently the largest worldwide V2G project inaugurated in Mirafiori last September 2020. The V2G plant is able to connect up to 64 vehicles and provide up to 2 MW of power for the provision of ancillary services. The project will be upgraded in 2023 to allow the connection of around 600 electric vehicles that will guarantee over 25 MW of power coming from ev batteries for the provision of frequency regulation services to the Italian TSO as Fast Reserve Unit.

Speakers:

Francesco Lamberti is Head of TechSales and Innovation of F2M eSolutions, the just born JV between Stellantis and EPS, and has formerly been product development manager and researcher in power systems and power electronics with a strong focus on energy storage systems and electric mobility.

He led the design, as project leader, of the largest worldwide V2G project inaugurated in Turin (2020) and successfully coordinated the technical team that developed the first full-scale prototype of organic flow battery system integrated with a photovoltaic system (2018, Budapest).

He has been professor in Power System Control at the University of Naples (2017-2018) and he pursued a PhD with merit (2016) in Power systems at the University of Salerno in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2015-2016, USA) and the University of Manchester (2013, UK) where he served as visiting researcher. Its PhD thesis received the “Best PhD Thesis Award” in Power System (2016-2017) by the Italian IEEE Chapter. He is co-author of several papers (250+ citations) of top-class international journals (IEEE, Elsevier) and he has been presenter in several international conferences (10+).

Gianmarco Curti is a Proposal Engineer eMobility at F2M eSolutions, he has obtained a Double Degree in Energy and Nuclear Engineer from Polytechnic of Turin and Polytechnic of Milan, thanks to the Alta Scuola Politecnica program of excellence. His Master Thesis dissertation was focused on battery and hydrogen-based systems grid integration for ancillary services provision.

He co-designed a 25 MW V2G project (by far the largest worldwide) and will act as vice-Project Engineer during the execution phase to make it available in 2023.
