Education
He graduated with honors in Political Science and Organizations (L-36) in 2012 and in Politics, Administration and Organization (LM-63) in 2014 from the School of Political Science at the University of Bologna. In 2018, he obtained a PhD in Political Science (specialization in Public Administration & Public Policy Analysis) from the Department of Political Science at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome.
Academic Career
After several years as a postdoctoral research fellow (2017–2020) at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, he became Senior Research Fellow in 2021 at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna.
In 2021, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) for Associate Professor in Political Science (14/A2), unanimously awarded by the evaluation committee.
Since October 2022, he has been Senior Assistant Professor (RTD-B) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. At the end of the three-year term, on 10 October 2025, he took up his position as Associate Professor in Political Science (GSPS-02/A) at the same Department.
Teaching Activities
From 2016 to 2020, he served as adjunct lecturer at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and the University of Genoa.
Since 2021, he has continuously taught as course instructor for several Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
He currently teaches: Public Administration and Public Policy (Master’s Degree in Politics, Administration and Organization – Public Affairs curriculum); Public Management (Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation Governance); Organizational Processes (Master’s Degree in Journalism, Public and Corporate Communication).
He regularly organizes and coordinates specialized seminars in his fields of expertise.
Since 2024, he has taught Fundamentals of Public Governance in the PhD Program in Public Governance, Management and Policy at the University of Bologna.
Research Activities
He has participated in numerous national and international research programs, including PRIN 2015, PRIN 2017, Horizon 2020, and Interreg Central Europe.
He collaborates regularly with several institutes and research centers in Europe and North America, developing international research networks focused on transformations in the public sector and on local and regional policies from a comparative perspective.
He has been Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde, the University of Edinburgh, and the European University Institute (Fiesole). From 2016 to 2017, he was Research Associate at the European Policies Research Centre in Glasgow.
He regularly participates, both as organizer and paper presenter, in conferences organized by major international political science and public administration associations.
He serves as referee for international and Italian journals in the fields of public management, public administration, and policy analysis (see ORCID profile).
Institutional Service and Academic Appointments
At the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna, he currently serves as member of the Undergraduate Orientation Committee; member of the Quality Assurance Committees for the Master’s Degrees in Digital Innovation Governance and in Politics, Administration and Organization; member of the Teaching Contracts Committee; and member of the Scientific Committee of the 'Nicola Matteucci' Library.
Since 2021, he has served on Master’s degree entrance examination committees, TOLC test committees, and admission committees for the Master’s Degrees in Digital Innovation Governance and in Journalism, Public and Corporate Communication.
Since 2024, he has been a member of the Faculty Board of the PhD Program in Public Governance, Management and Policy, regularly supervising doctoral students and serving on PhD admission committees.
He is currently responsible for Erasmus exchange agreements with the University of Alicante and the University of Coimbra.

2015 – Winner of the AISRe Award (Italian Association of Regional Sciences) for the best thesis on regional and local policy analysis, programming, and evaluation.
