Short Bio

A research fellow at the University of Bologna within the framework of the PRIN 2022 TeLPh "Teaching and Learning Philosophy in the Regnum Italiae (1250-1450): from Exception to European Heritage," Matteo Stettler carries out his research activities in the field of medieval philosophy. His research interests address the notion of philosophy as a way of life and its different cultural-historical declinations, with special attention paid to the so-called ‘felicità mentale’ of the (Parisians and Bolognese) masters of the faculties of the arts in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Matteo collaborates with two research groups: the 'Philosophy as a Way of Life' research group at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana of Rome and the 'Art of Living' research group at the NOVA Institute of Philosophy (Ifilnova) in Lisbon, where he was a visiting student in 2022. He also serves as advisor for the FCT research project 'Mapping Philosophy as a Way of Life: An Ancient Model, a Contemporary Approach' at the latter institute.

His research has appeared in many collective editions and specialist journals in the field, including Aevum and Zeitschrift für Antikes Christentum.
