Massimiliano
Fantini graduated
in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty
of Engineering of the University
of Bologna in 2003
and obtained his
PhD in "Design and Methods in
Industrial Engineering " in 2007. He is
registered to the Order of Engineers of Forli-Cesena since 2003. He conducted
research activities as research fellow at
the V-Lab (Virtual Reality and Simulation Laboratory) for the "technology transfer" of
tools and methods of the industrial design to the biomedical
field (in particular for maxillofacial
rehabilitation) and for the conservation and
enhancement of Cultural Heritage
(archaeological and anthropological field). For these projects, he used CAD-CAM technology
resources, such as Reverse Engineering, Virtual
Reality and Rapid Prototyping,
usually known
as the Time
Compression Technologies (TCT)
and aimed at
reducing the Time
to Market (TTM) in the industrial field.
For what concerns educational activities,
he conducted lessons as Adjunct Professor for "Design
Methods for Industrial Engineering" and
exercises for the "Product Design
Laboratory" in the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering of
the School of Engineering and Architecture, University of
Bologna (based in
Forlì). He was supervisor of several master thesis
in Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering.
He attended numerous national and
international conferences presenting the results of
researches and projects and he has
over 50 publications including articles in international
journals, national contributions
in conference
proceedings and specific contributions to book chapters. He is co-inventor of
two national patents
about the production of customized devices for
surgical resection and mandibular
reconstruction.
