Short Bio

Oncologist and hematologist.

Former coordinator of the AIOM oncological pain working group.

Former coordinator of the EAPC working group on prognostic factors in palliative care and part of the EAPC working group on opioid use guidelines.

He is part of the ESMO group for guidelines on prognostic factors.

He has organized two national congresses of the SICP, and has been on the board of directors of the association.

2018 - National Academic Scientific Qualification relating to "Hematology, Oncology and Rheumatology".

2020 MD Anderson Cancer Center:  John Mendelsohn Award

He has edited about ten volumes including the three volumes of the Italian Manual of Palliative Care. 

Twenty book chapters and 137 articles, including journals such as Journal Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, Oncologist, Cancer, Frontiers in Oncology

The research areas are palliative sedation, prognostic factors, early palliative care models, cancer pain, original palliative care
