Marco Sanchi is a Post-doctoral researcher at Cirsfid-Alma AI at the University of Bologna, for the European AI4Gov-X project on Artificial Intelligence, Law, and Public Administration.
In 2026, he obtained a Ph.D. in the national PhD for AI & Society program, jointly affiliated with the University of Pisa and the Cirsfid-Alma AI research center at the University of Bologna, with a Doctoral Thesis titled "Rethinking Explanations through the Law: Systemic Explainability for Autonomous Vehicles in the European Union".
He graduated with honors from the University of Bologna in Law and Legal Sciences in 2022, with a thesis entitled "The criminal AI: on the accountability and legal personhood of artificial offenders." He continued his studies by obtaining a First Level Master's degree in Law of New Technologies and Legal Informatics at Cirsfid, University of Bologna (2022).
Research interests include Artificial Intelligence Law, Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Self-Driving Vehicles, and topics in Robotics across Ethics, Law and Society.
