Short Bio

Associate Professor since 2021, I have been working on ancient and medieval India and, in particular, on Sanskrit language and literature. My research interests include Vedic literature, Indian art literature in Sanskrit, and Indian codicology and palaeography, with special reference to South-East India.

I have spent research periods in India (Visiting Scholar, EFEO, Pondicherry, 2008, 2009 2012), the UK (University of Cambridge, 2013, 2014), the Netherlands (Scaliger Fellow, Leiden University, 2015) and Germany (Petra Kappert Fellow, University of Hamburg, 2023). I have participated and still participate in several international projects, based in Cambridge (Sanskrit Manuscripts at the UL), Delhi (E-QUAL), Hamburg (EMCAA), Hamburg/Pondicherry (NETamil), Hamburg/Paris (TST), Naples L'"Orientale" (Śivadharma), Paris (Dharma).

I am the Head of the Research Unit of the University of Bologna for the PRIN For a Multivocal History of the Attitudes Towards Non-human Animals in South Asia.

I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Associazione Italiana di Studi Sanscriti (AISS).
