I graduated in Biological Sciences and obtained a PhD in Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Pisa. During my PhD I studied the molecular mechanisms that prevent senescence and prolong the proliferative activity of stem cells, using planarians as a model system, known for their regenerative capacity and resilience to aging. Hence my passion for the study of aging was born, later focusing my research on human aging and age-related diseases at the University of Bologna. Here I won a research fellowship position at the Laboratory of Prof. Claudio Franceschi to study muscle aging and sarcopenia within the European project "Myoage". To date I deal with the study of Perilipins and Mitokines, with the aim of identifying new targets to combat age-related diseases and promote healthy aging.
