Lukrecia is a postdoctoral researcher in climate variability at the University of Bologna from October 2024. Her research focuses on sea ice variability and its interaction with atmospheric and ocean circulation. She is a physicist with a doctorate in science from the University of Bremen.
In her postdoctoral work, Lukrecia studies the variability of Antarctic sea ice and its links to atmospheric and ocean circulation patterns, using climate model simulations combined with observational data. During her doctoral research, she investigated the interactions between sea ice, ocean, and ice shelves in the Weddell Sea, Antarctica, applying a numerical model constrained by observations. She also studied the impact of reduced Arctic sea ice on atmospheric conditions in the Northern Hemisphere using ensemble of climate model simulations.
Lukrecia collaborates with musicians to communicate climate science and climate change to wider audiences.
