Luisa Cifarelli

Luisa Cifarelli, formerly Full Professor of Experimental Physics, is Emeritus Professor at the University of Bologna.

She carried out her research in very high energy subnuclear physics at major European laboratories such as CERN or DESY, and also in astroparticle physics at INFN LNGS, Gran Sasso.

She has served in several councils/committees/boards, she has been a member of the CERN Council, of the INFN Board of Directors, of the Scientific Council of CNRS, of JINR, and of the Scientific Committee of Centro Majorana (EMFCSC). She has been President of the Italian national research institute Centro Fermi, of the European (EPS) and of the Italian Physical Society (SIF). 

She is Fellow, International Councillor and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Physical Society (APS). She has been Chair of the APS Forum on International Physics and a member of the APS Committee on International Scientific Affairs.

She is a member of the Academia Europaea. She is a Benedictine Academician of the Accademia delle Scienze dell'Istituto di Bologna, she has been a member of the Governing Board of the Accademia and is currently a member of the Scientific Committee.
