Curriculum vitae

Luca is a Research Fellow in Computer Science at the University of Bologna (Italy), where he completed his MSc in Computer Science in 2026. He previously obtained his BSc in Computer Science from the University of Padua. His academic background combines theoretical foundations with practical experience across multiple areas of computer science, including High-Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering.

His research activity lies in the area of High-Performance Computing (HPC), with a focus on workload management and simulation. His work investigates the design of extensible and modular simulation frameworks aimed at supporting the systematic evaluation of energy-efficient scheduling strategies. In particular, he has worked on the architectural redesign of HPC simulators, introducing microkernel-based discrete event simulation approaches and plugin-oriented designs that decouple simulation infrastructure from workload-management policies. This line of research aims to improve usability, reproducibility, and extensibility, enabling the integration of advanced techniques such as machine learning–based prediction, multi-objective optimization, and carbon-aware scheduling.

Alongside his research activities, he has gained experience in both academic and industrial environments. He has worked on HPC systems using real-world clusters and workload traces.
