Short Bio

After graduating in History of restoration of cultural heritage at University of Bologna, he worked at the Cultural Institute of Emilia Romagna Region. Fellow at the Roberto Longhi Foundation in Florence began his academic career teaching Museum and History and Theory of Restoration at the University of Bologna. In the following years he dedicated his researchs on the history of conservation and safeguarding of works of art with particular attention to ancient frescoes and contemporary mural paintings like the works of Graffiti-writing and the Street Art (in specific he is an expert in the restoration and detachment of paintings from the wall).For five years he was a research fellow at the Department of Cultural Heritage of University of Bologna while carrying out his PhD at the University of Siena. He has published numerous essays on the history of the restoration, conservation, collectors and collections, and protection of works of art in Italy in books and magazines. He taught History and theory of restoration at the University of Florence and at the University Cattolica of Milan. In December 2021 became curator of the Museums of University of Bologna.   • Office hours by appointment (not made by phone or Teams, except in exceptional circumstances)
  • The students that didn’t attend the course have to agree to a specific programme with the professor before the date of the exam (the programme will be suggested after a meeting with the professor)
  • The students have to take the exam bringing the books or the photocopies with them suggested in the biblioography of the course
  • The undergraduate students need sufficient time to finish their dissertation (not one month or less)
