Lorenzo Vianelli is a Junior Assistant Professor since 2022 and his work contributes to the fields of political geography and critical border and migration studies. After he obtained his PhD from the University of Warwick in 2018, he was post-doctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg (2018) and at the University of Exeter (2019). Between 2020 and 2022, he was the Principal Investigator of the project CONDISOBS (https://condisobs.eu/), which was funded by a H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship and hosted by the University of Luxembourg.
He is currently Principal Investigator of the project "Extractive Borders: Profiting from Migrants' Forced Im/Mobility (EXBO)", which is funded through the "Young Researchers" scheme by the Italian Ministry for University and Research. He is also Research Associate in the ERC-project "TheGAME: Counter-Mapping Informal Refugee Mobilities Along the Balkan Route".
