Lorenzo completed a DPhil in medieval history at the University of Oxford, during which he examined the relations between peasants and landed aristocracies in the countryside of Florence and Lucca from the eleventh to the thirteenth century. In 2019-20, he was based at the
Université Libre de Bruxelles thanks to the financial support of the Wiener-Anspach Foundation. Since November 2020, he has been working on the PRIN project 'Fiscal Estate in Medieval Italy: Continuity and Change (9th - 12th centuries)'.
