Short Bio

The research activity focuses on paleornithology, and particularly on the variation of the geographic distribution (paleobiogeography) and of the ecophenotypical characteristics of the different bird species during the Pleistocene, in response to the climatic oscillations. The geographic distribution of the different species in the past is investigated through the fossil record and the Species Distribution Models (SDMs). I also deal with the study of the bird fossil remains from a taxonomic and taphonomic point of view, with the main aim of reconstructing the past avifaunal associations, their paleoenvironmental significance and the agents of accumulation of the remains. These studies also allow to explore the dynamics of the interactions between men and birds during Prehistory.
