My research focuses on better understanding the role of extracorporeal CO2 removal in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In particular, I concentrated on the efficacy of extracorporeal CO2 removal technique to avoid intubation and to facilitate weaning in mechanically ventilated hypercapnic patients.
My other research interests include: acute respiratory failure, non invasive mechanical ventilation, patient-ventilator interaction, high flow nasal cannula therapy , respiratory mechanics and ethics
