EDUCATION
1997-2001: Ph.D. in Structural Mechanics, University of Bologna. Title of dissertation: “Non-linear seismic analysis of RC frame structures: influence of axial force and of the vertical ground motion component”, thesis supervisor Prof. Pier Paolo Diotallevi.
June 1997: Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Bologna (five year course). Division: structural engineering. Grade 100/100 cum laude. Title of dissertation: “Modelling criteria, with degradation, of RC frames subjected to seismic action”, thesis supervisor Prof. Pier Paolo Diotallevi.

 

RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Since 1998: research activity within the fields of structural and earthquake engineering. Main research topics: modelling of non-linear seismic behaviour, in particular of RC structures, procedures for structural analysis and design, innovative techniques for control of seismic effects, probabilistic approaches, dynamic identification. Author/coauthor of more than 160 scientific papers published in international and national journals and conference proceedings. Participation as speaker to numerous national and international conferences.
2017-2018: scientific responsible of the Reseacrh Unit of Bologna for the project DPC-RELUIS Line 7 “Displacement-based evaluation of existing buildings”, WP2 “Loss assessment for specific structural typologies”, national coordinators Prof. G. M. Calvi e Prof. R. Monteiro, 2014-2018.
Since 1999: collaboration as member of the research group of several projects. For example: project DPC-RELUIS n. 4 “Development of displacement based approach for design and vulnerability evaluation”, chief of the local unit Prof. A. Benedetti, coordinators Prof. G.M. Calvi, Prof. M.J.N. Priestley, 2006-2008; PRIN, ex40% Project “Seismic retrofit of monumental buildings with base-isolation and innovative materials”, chief of the local unit Prof. C. Since 2002: lecturer for almost thirty training and high education courses organized by Boards of Engineers and other public and private associations. Main objects: limit state structural design, structural dynamics, seismic design criteria, reinforced concrete, steel and masonry structures in seismic zones.
