Postdoctoral Researcher at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. His research combines biomedical engineering, wearables, and machine learning to advance digital health and geriatrics. He develops digital mobility outcomes (DMOs) and Explainable AI (XAI) models to predict geriatric syndromes, focusing on real-world fall risk.
He holds a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering (Peru), an MS in Biomedical Engineering (Brown University, USA), and a PhD cum laude in Health and Technologies (University of Bologna). His doctoral research won the 2025 Best National PhD Thesis Award (GNB) and the Early Career Researcher Prize (SIAMOC).
Dr. Albites Sanabria collaborates with global initiatives like Mobilise-D, the InCHIANTI study, and the ITU/WHO Focus Group on AI for Health. Alongside his academic work, he is the co-founder of a startup developing bionic prosthetics
