Imane Hmiddou has an interdisciplinary background that combines political science, sociology, economics, management, international relations, and European studies. She also has hands-on experience in research, industry, and the nonprofit sector, focusing on AI governance. Her work emphasizes the multifaceted impact of AI technologies and offers recommendations for effective multilevel governance.
As part of her doctoral research, Imane investigates the "Trustworthy" governance of agentic AI systems, assessing the efficacity of existing ethical principles, EU legal requirements, and socio-technical standards in enabling accurate, transparent, explainable, and supervised Human-AI and AI-AI Interactions in the age of augmented algorithmic agency. She examines the challenges faced by AI providers through the EUSAiR project pilots, which she is involved in, to inform her research with practical insights.
