Research project (provisional): Living Dual Citizenship: A Comparative Study of Syrian Diaspora in Italy and Germany and the Influence of Community Size on Identity Formation.

Born in Damascus and raised in Rome, Hani El Debuch studies how Syrian dual nationals in Italy and Germany shape their identity and sense of belonging, with a focus on diaspora size and intergenerational transmission. He has worked in reception centers, humanitarian corridors, and in Egypt with UNHCR. He directs the Special Task Force on Syrian Heritage at the Heritage International Institute.
