Short Bio

Glenn De Muynck has been a PhD researcher at the University of Bologna since 2023, focusing on the role of context in how abstract concepts are represented in the brain. His research adopts three complementary approaches. First, he examines the types of contextual information activated for different subtypes of abstract concepts using psycholinguistic paradigms such as free-listing tasks, while considering how individual factors, like the vividness of mental imagery, influence task performance. Second, he investigates how sentence context modulates EEG components elicited by concepts. Finally, his work explores the complexity of abstract concepts by comparing the performance of large language models (LLMs) with human participants on behavioral tasks, evaluating the potential of LLMs as reliable models for understanding human linguistic faculties.
