Associate Professor at UNIBO since 2016 and Head of CRBA since 2018, with a MS in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies at UNIBO and a PhD in human genetics at the University of Turin; licensed by the Collegio Superiore UNIBO. His research focuses on mitochondrial genetics, with particular reference to mitochondrial metabolism in solid tumors. He has been coordinator of the European project MEET - Mitochondrial European Educational Training (FP7 Marie Curie) and he is in the coordinating team and WP leader of the H2020 Marie Curie project TRANSMIT - Translational Significance of Mitochondria in Tumorigenesis. He co-authored 86 scientific publications on ISI-impacted journals and collaborates with several European and US research groups. His research is funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC), Fondazione Veronesi, the Italian Ministry of Health, the Italian Ministry of Education and the Worldwide Cancer Research, as well as by the EU.
