Giuseppe Famà

Short Bio

Giuseppe Famà is a specialist on EU foreign, security and defence policies. He works in the EU diplomatic service, where he advises the Deputy Secretary General for Peace, Security and Defence. Previously, he worked on the EU Political and Security Committee coordination.

Until late 2022, he was Head of EU Affairs at the International Crisis Group, steering the work on EU conflict prevention, security and development issues. He coordinated projects, research, and advocacy strategies with European players. He was a member of the Steering Committee of the European peacebuilding network EPLO.

From 2015 to 2018, Giuseppe Famà served in EU civilian missions in Mali and Libya, working on the planning and coordination of EU assistance in the security sector, counter-terrorism, justice and border issues.

He was part of the team of the 2014 Italian Presidency of the EU Council, focused on political and security affairs, Africa and crisis management. He also worked for the European Commission (Foreign Policy Instruments) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He holds an MA in international relations and diplomatic affairs from the University of Bologna (Forlì).
