Short Bio

Giuseppe Contissa was contract Professor in Legal Informatics at LUISS University, Rome (Italy) (2012- 2019). Researcher at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence (Italy) (2011-2016). Contract Professor in Logic and Legal Informatics at the Leonardo da Vinci University, Pescara (Italy (2012- to date).

He was Post-Doctoral Fellow (Max Weber Programme) at the EUI (2010-2011), and Resident Fellow at the Stanford Center for Computers and the Law (CodeX), Stanford University, USA (2009); Contract Researcher at CIRSFID, University of Bologna (2006 – 2008). In 2006 he received his PhD in Legal Informatics and Computer law from University of Bologna, where he is currently a researcher at CIRSFID.

His research interests include:

• Legal informatics, especially artificial intelligence & law, computable models of legal reasoning and knowledge;

• Legal theory, especially legal reasoning, legal logic, legal arguments, game-theory and the law, legislative drafting.

• Law and technology, in particular legal issues of robotics, liability and automation in socio-technical systems, (air traffic management and autonomous vehicles).
