Giulia Crippa is Associate Professor at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna. Previously, she was Full Professor at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where she obtained her PhD in Social History and her Livre-docência qualification in Information Science. She carried out postdoctoral research at the CSAC of the University of Parma and participates in the CNPq PRACTIC research group.
Her research interests concern information and cultural mediation, with particular attention to the relationships between cultural memory, heritage, the social imaginary and knowledge organization. For her, the imaginary is an interpretive lens for analyzing representations, narratives and symbolic devices through which societies and institutions construct meanings, forms of belonging and cultural value.
Her research focuses on memory institutions and platforms as sites of preservation, cultural mediation and imaginary producers.
