She is a PhD candidate in Automotive Engineering for Intelligent Mobility at the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Her research focuses on additive manufacturing processes for metallic components. Her main interests include assessing the productivity and environmental sustainability of Laser Powder Bed Fusion through Life Cycle Assessment methodologies, as well as characterising the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of additively manufactured materials. She is also involved in developing non-destructive inspection techniques based on thermography and tomography.

Education
She obtained her Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industry 4.0 curriculum, in 2023 from the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Since 1 November 2024, she has been a PhD candidate in Automotive Engineering for Intelligent Mobility at the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

Academic career
She held two research fellowship positions at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The first, from 16 April to 15 December 2023, was carried out at INTERMECH – Interdepartmental Centre for Applied Research and Services in Advanced Mechanics and Motor Engineering – and focused on additively manufactured lattice structures for heat-transfer applications.
The second appointment, from 16 December 2023 to 31 October 2024, was conducted within the INTACT project, dedicated to developing innovative methods for inspecting additively manufactured components using non-destructive techniques based on thermography and tomography. The project was funded under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4 “Education and Research”, Component C2, Investment 1.1, concerning Projects of Significant National Interest (PRIN).

Teaching activities
Since 2023, she has contributed to the teaching and laboratory activities of the Sustainable Process Design course within the Master’s Degree Programme in Sustainable Industrial Engineering at the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari”, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She has contributed to defining the syllabus, preparing and selecting teaching materials, and delivering practical activities. She also serves as a subject-matter expert for the course.
Since 2023, she has also delivered lectures at several editions of the Women in Transport Summer School, organised by MUNER – Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna. Her lectures focus on additive manufacturing technologies and the assessment of their environmental impact in the production of metallic components.

Research activities
Her research primarily focuses on Laser Powder Bed Fusion for metallic component production, with particular attention to productivity and environmental impact. In this field, she has developed experimental methodologies for measuring raw-material and electricity consumption, created process models in SimaPro, and conducted carbon-footprint assessments using different calculation approaches.

She has contributed to the INTACT project, carried out in collaboration with Prof. Luca Iuliano’s research group at Politecnico di Torino, to develop non-destructive inspection techniques for Powder Bed Fusion components. She has also participated in the “I-AM-EM – Innovative Additive Manufacturing for Electrical Machines: Greater Efficiency and Sustainability through Design Flexibility” project, dedicated to studying the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials produced using PBF technologies. From May to July 2026, she was a visiting student at the University of Michigan.

Institutional activities and academic appointments
Since November 2024, she helps as Faculty Advisor for the Cost & Manufacturing division of the Formula Student MoRe Modena Racing team at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. In this role, she supervises students in data collection and validation, the development of cost and environmental impact assessments, and the preparation of competition documentation.
