Short Bio

Giulia Bencini is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Bologna. Trained in linguistics and cognitive science in Italy and the US, she received her PhD in Linguistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She subsequently held research positions at New York University and Hunter College, CUNY, where she joined the faculty of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor. From 2015 to 2024 she was Associate Professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where she founded and co-directed an experimental laboratory for language and cognition and served two terms as Rector’s Delegate for Disability and Inclusion, later joining the national CNUDD Steering Committee. Her research focuses on language and cognition, multilingual language processing and mediation, and linguistic and communicative accessibility. Go to the Curriculum vitae
