Short Bio

Giovanni is a PhD candidate within the international Joint Doctorate in Law, Science, and Technology at the University of Bologna and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research interests span from space law to the regulation of new technologies. Giovanni’s research focuses on the governance of AI in outer space. With a particular interest in the application and regulation of AI in large satellite constellations, aiming to enhance the safety and sustainability of the space environment. He is the Co-lead of the Research Group on AI and Space Law of the Space Law and Policy Project Group at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC).

Previously to joining Academia, He worked in digital policy at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), a Washington D.C. based think tank, carrying out research at the intersection of AI, data, and cloud governance. He holds a double master's degree in EU and International law from the University of Turin and the University of Savoy Mont Blanc, and a Bachelor of Political Science and International relations from the University of Pisa.
