Graduated in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Genoa, Giovanni De Lorenzo is responsible in Italy for the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry since 2015. In this role, he oversees, together with a team of three other professionals, the surveys under construction of yachts at Italian shipyards and also carries out inspections on board yachts in service as a Flag State Inspector, ISM&ISPS Auditor, and ILO MLC 2006 Inspector.
On behalf of DNV Maritime Academy, he has been delivering training courses as an external trainer on various topics, mainly rules and regulations, since 2015.
Since 2025, he is Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna.
In the past, he worked as a Surveyor for the Classification Society RINA in Italy, the United Kingdom, and France.
