Born February 4, 1944, Pharmacy degree, 1967 and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, 1970, University of Bologna. Full Professor of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, University of Bologna since 1986. Senior Research Associate, Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health, The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX, USA, 1975-1978. Adjunct Professor, Division of Environmental Toxicology, Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health, The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX, USA, since 1989. Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, 1994-2000 and 2003-2005. Director of the Post-Graduate School of Toxicology, 1987-2003. Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmacology and Toxicology, 1999- present. President of “Polo Scientifico-Didattico” di Rimini, 2007/2010–2010/2012.

President of the Italian College of Pharmacologists (2010); Guarantee Member of the PRIN Committee for the evaluation of research projects of national interest, Italian Ministery of Instruction, University and Research (2010-); President of the Italian Society of Toxicology, 2000-2009.
